A New Season at Holston Flower Farm
Hello friends,
Thank you for being here. This is the very first Holston Flower Farm newsletter, and it feels like the right moment to pause, take a breath, and share what’s been growing—both in the ground and behind the scenes.
2025 was the first year of Holston Flower Farm, and what a year it was.
What began as an idea slowly turned into something real. I officially started an LLC, became a designated Tennessee farm, did soil tests, built deer fencing, got an irrigation system and planted my very first growing plot right here in the Holston Historic District of downtown Bristol. I designed the brand and got a logo, built a small backyard farm stand, and started learning—very quickly—what it means to grow flowers for a living. Most importantly, I started meeting you—neighbors, friends, and passersby who stopped to grab a bouquet, say hello, or tell me what flowers mean to you. One bouquet at a time, a customer base began to grow, and with it, a sense that this farm could really become something lasting.
Now, we’re stepping into a brand-new season.
This spring, Holston Flower Farm will be building a hoop house, made possible by receiving an FSA/USDA grant. This feels like a huge milestone for a small, backyard flower farm. The hoop house will allow me to grow earlier in the spring, later into the fall, and offer more of the specialty blooms I love—those fleeting, delicate flowers that make each season feel distinct. Also, I was incredibly grateful to receive a Floret scholarship, which will help shape how I think about flowers, farming, and beauty as a craft.
I’m also excited to share that 2026 will be the first year of Holston Flower Farm CSAs. I’ll be offering Spring CSA , Summer CSA, and Fall CSA’s featuring seasonal bouquets grown and arranged right here on the farm. CSAs are my favorite way to share flowers—thoughtfully grown, harvested at their peak, and made for people who truly love having fresh flowers in their lives. Also, I got a cooler for easy pickup and longer vase life for my flowers! More details will be coming soon, but I wanted you to be the first to know.
This farm is deeply personal to me. I grew up with my nose in the peonies, learned my love of flowers from my mom, and spent years on the road as a musician before finally planting roots here in East Tennessee. After years of community work, music, and constant travel, getting to grow beauty from the soil—and share it with my neighbors—feels like the most honest work I’ve ever done.
As we head into this new year, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement. There will be new flowers, longer seasons, more bouquets, and more chances to connect. Thank you for being part of this from the beginning.
Spring is coming, and I’m so glad you’re here for it.
With gratitude,
Kris Truelsen
